of <h1>Service Tax on Air Passenger Transport Increased: Economy Class Now 150, Other Classes 750, Effective April 1, 2011.</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 26/2010 regarding the service tax on air passenger transport, effective April 1, 2011. The amendment increases the service tax rate for economy class from one hundred rupees to one hundred fifty rupees and for other classes from five hundred rupees to seven hundred fifty rupees. This change is made under the authority granted by the Finance Act, 1994, and is deemed necessary in the public interest. The original notification was issued on June 22, 2010.
