India Amends Customs Notification: Duty-Free Tariff Preferences Updated, East Timor and Zambia Added to Eligible List
The Government of India has amended Notification No. 96/2008-Customs, dated August 13, 2008, concerning duty-free tariff preferences for Least Developed Countries. The amendment modifies the duty percentage rates in the notification, reducing the initial 80% to 60% and adjusting various percentage entries in Appendix I, column (4), to higher values. Additionally, the Schedule now includes the Republic of East Timor and the Republic of Zambia as eligible countries. These changes are enacted under the Customs Act, 1962, and are deemed necessary in the public interest.
