Govt exempts excise duty on goods from EOUs/FTZs sold in DTA for 1992-1993 under Central Excises Act.
The Central Government issued a notification exempting excisable goods produced in 100% Export Oriented Units (EOUs) or Free Trade Zones (FTZs) and sold in the Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) from excise duty exceeding 50% of customs duty. This exemption applies to goods cleared between April 1, 1992, and February 28, 1993, under the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944. The directive, effective from December 26, 1995, ensures that excess excise duties, which were not levied during the specified period due to prevalent practices, will not be required to be paid for such DTA clearances.
