Customs Updates Tariff Values for Edible Oils, Metals, Areca Nut from August 1, 2025 Under Customs Act 1962
The customs authority has issued a notification amending the tariff values for specified goods including edible oils, brass scrap, areca nut, gold, and silver, effective from August 1, 2025. The revised tariff values set minimum assessable values in US dollars per metric tonne or per specified weight units for various categories such as crude palm oil, RBD palm oil, crude soya bean oil, brass scrap, areca nuts, and different forms of gold and silver. These amendments replace the previous tariff tables issued in 2001 and last updated in July 2025, aiming to ensure appropriate customs valuation under the Customs Act, 1962. The notification confirms the updated tariff values are mandatory for customs assessment and import valuation purposes.
