<h1>India Amends Excise Exemption Rules for North East Goods; Updates on Cement, Starch, Fatty Acids, and More</h1> The Government of India has amended Notification No. 33/99-Central Excise, dated July 8, 1999, which provides excise exemptions to specified goods produced in factories located in the North East regions of Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, and Arunachal Pradesh. The amendments, effective from October 3, 2008, involve changes to the table in paragraph 2A of the original notification. These changes include modifications to the entries for cement, cement clinker, modified starch or glucose, fatty acids or glycerine, and ferro alloys, specifying the corresponding raw materials eligible for excise exemptions.
