of <h1>India Rescinds Gold Import Exemptions on Social Welfare Surcharge and Agriculture Cess, Effective February 2, 2023.</h1> The Government of India, through the Ministry of Finance, has issued Notification No. 05/2023-Customs, dated February 1, 2023, to rescind previous notifications No. 13/2021-Customs and No. 34/2022-Customs. This action removes the exemption on gold imports from the Social Welfare Surcharge and the Social Welfare Surcharge applicable to the Agriculture Infrastructure and Development Cess on gold and silver. The rescission is effective from February 2, 2023, and is taken in the public interest under the authority of the Customs Act, 1962, and the Finance Act, 2018.
