of <h1>India Exempts Biogas-Blended CNG from Certain Excise Duties; Conditions Include Record-Keeping and Reconciliation Statement Submission.</h1> The Government of India, through Notification No. 05/2023 issued by the Ministry of Finance, has exempted Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) blended with Biogas or Compressed Biogas (CBG) from certain excise duties. This exemption applies to the extent of central, state, union territory, or integrated taxes paid on the biogas or CBG portion within the blended CNG. Conditions for the exemption include maintaining detailed records of the biogas or CBG used, submitting a certified reconciliation statement quarterly, and paying any short-paid excise duty with interest. The notification is effective from February 2, 2023.
