Gujarat waives interest for e-commerce operators on late GST filings due to tech issues under GST Act 2017.
The Government of Gujarat has issued a notification waiving the interest for certain electronic commerce operators who failed to file their GST statements due to technical issues. This waiver applies to operators with specified GST Identification Numbers who could not submit their statements for December 2020, and for the months from September 2020 to January 2021, despite having deposited the collected tax in the electronic cash ledger. The interest rate is set to 'Nil' from the date of tax deposit until the filing of the required statements, as per the Gujarat Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017.
