India Revises Customs Duty on Textiles: New Rates Effective February 2, 2022, Until April 30, 2022.

The Government of India has issued Notification No. 07/2022-Customs to amend Notification No. 82/2017-Customs, dated 27th October 2017. This amendment prescribes effective customs duty rates on various textile items until 30th April 2022. The notification introduces new serial numbers and modifies existing entries in the customs duty table, specifying rates as a percentage or a fixed amount per square meter or kilogram, whichever is higher. The changes affect a wide range of textile goods, including fabrics and garments, with rates ranging from 10% to 20% or specified amounts per unit of measurement. The notification takes effect on 2nd February 2022.
