of <h1>India Revises GST Rates: Polyethylene Bags Now 9% Instead of 6% Starting January 2020, per Notification No. 27/2019.</h1> The Government of India has issued Notification No. 27/2019-Central Tax (Rate) to amend the GST rates on certain goods based on the recommendations from the GST Council's 38th meeting. Effective January 1, 2020, the amendment omits certain entries in Schedule II, which had a 6% rate, and introduces new entries in Schedule III with a 9% rate. These include woven and non-woven bags and sacks of polyethylene or polypropylene strips and flexible intermediate bulk containers. This notification modifies the principal notification No. 1/2017-Central Tax (Rate) from June 28, 2017.
