of <h1>India Exempts Local Authorities from GST on Hiring Electric Buses per CGST Amendment, Effective August 2019.</h1> The Government of India, through Notification No. 13/2019 dated 31st July 2019, has amended the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) regulations to exempt local authorities from GST when hiring electric buses. This amendment, effective from 1st August 2019, is added to the existing notification No. 12/2017. The exemption applies to electrically operated vehicles designed to carry more than twelve passengers, as defined under Chapter 87 of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975. This decision was made in the public interest and upon the recommendation of the GST Council.
