of <h1>India Exempts EOUs from Integrated Tax and Cess on Imports Until March 31, 2018, per Notification 78/2017-Customs.</h1> The Government of India has issued Notification No. 78/2017-Customs, amending a previous notification to exempt goods imported by Export Oriented Units (EOUs) from integrated tax and compensation cess under the Customs Tariff Act, 1975. This exemption is in addition to the existing exemption from customs duty and additional duties. However, the exemption from integrated tax and compensation cess will not apply from April 1, 2018, onwards. This amendment is made under the powers conferred by the Customs Act, 1962, in the interest of public welfare.
