of <h1>India Exempts Goods from Secondary and Higher Education Cess on IGST and Compensation Cess under Notification No. 55/2017-Customs.</h1> The Government of India, through Notification No. 55/2017-Customs dated June 30, 2017, exempts all goods specified in the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, from the Secondary and Higher Education Cess on Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST) and Compensation Cess upon import. This exemption is enacted under the powers of the Customs Act, 1962, and the Finance Act, 2007, in the public interest. The notification is effective from July 1, 2017.
