of <h1>India Exempts Goods from Education Cess Under Customs Tariff Act via Notification No. 54/2017 Effective July 1, 2017.</h1> The Government of India, through the Ministry of Finance's Department of Revenue, issued Notification No. 54/2017-Customs on June 30, 2017. This notification, effective from July 1, 2017, exempts all goods listed in the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, from the Education Cess imposed under the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, and the Finance (No. 2) Act, 2004, when imported into India. This exemption is enacted in the public interest under the powers granted by the Customs Act, 1962.
