of <h1>India Amends Service Tax Rules to Exempt Small Businesses with Turnover up to Rs. 10 Lakh from April 1, 2016.</h1> The Government of India has amended Notification No. 25/2012 to include a new entry exempting service tax for services provided by the government or local authorities to business entities with a turnover of up to ten lakh rupees in the preceding financial year. This amendment, issued under Notification No. 07/2016-Service Tax, will take effect on April 1, 2016. The amendment is made under the authority of the Finance Act, 1994, aiming to serve the public interest by alleviating the service tax burden on smaller business entities.
