of <h1>India Amends CENVAT Credit Rules: Ethanol from 2015-16 Cane Molasses Eligible for Credit Under Rule 6(6)</h1> The Government of India, under the Ministry of Finance, has issued Notification No. 21/2015 to amend the CENVAT Credit Rules, 2004. Effective from October 7, 2015, the amendment introduces a new clause in Rule 6, sub-rule (6), allowing CENVAT credit for ethanol produced from molasses derived from cane crushed during the 2015-16 sugar season. This ethanol, intended for blending with petrol, is supplied to public sector oil marketing companies, including Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd., and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd., as per the provisions outlined in a previous notification.
