of <h1>RBI Exempted from Service Tax on All Services via Notification No. 22/2006; Exemption Rescinded in 2012</h1> The Central Government issued Notification No. 22/2006 on May 31, 2006, exempting the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) from paying service tax under sections 68(1), 68(2), and 66A of the Finance Act, 1994. This exemption applies to taxable services provided by or to the RBI, including services received from outside India. The notification supersedes an earlier notification, No. 7/2006, dated March 1, 2006, and was enacted in the public interest. The exemption was later rescinded by Notification No. 34/2012 on June 20, 2012.
