<h1>Finance minister cites Rs 1.11 lakh crore GST revenue shortfall; GST (Amendment) Bill, 2025 aligns state law</h1> The state finance minister told the assembly that the state suffered a Rs 1.11 lakh crore revenue shortfall over eight years after GST implementation and received only Rs 61,000 crore in compensation; he said the compensation cess was discontinued after 2022 and criticised the central government and its ruling party for policies he asserted undermine federal fiscal autonomy. The Punjab Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2025 proposes amendments to multiple sections of the state GST Act and inserts new sections to align with the Central GST Act as amended by the Finance Act, 2025. The House passed six bills, including measures making sale of spurious seeds non-bailable and amendments to town improvement, right to business, apartment regulation and co-operative societies laws.
