Chief minister says central GST rate cut shifts Rs 20,000 crore burden to states, urges solutions, warns against divisiveness
The state chief minister accused the central government of shifting the fiscal burden to states after a nationwide GST rate cut, saying the state will face an estimated Rs 20,000 crore revenue shortfall though the measure benefits consumers. The chief minister welcomed the relief for citizens but said the Centre should not take credit, asserting it will not fund the loss and that states must devise ways to bridge the gap; the state will run newspaper adverts on its position. She also warned against communal and linguistic divisiveness and urged respect for cultural diversity.
