Election Commission must allow excluded voters to file online or physical claims using Aadhaar or any of 11 documents
The Supreme Court directed the Election Commission to permit voters excluded from a draft electoral roll in a special revision to submit claims online or physically using Aadhaar or any one of 11 prescribed documents, and ordered the state chief electoral officer to implead recognised political parties to assist excluded voters. The court mandated parties to instruct booth-level agents to help file claim forms (excluding deceased or voluntarily migrated persons) and required officials to issue acknowledgement receipts for physically submitted claims. The bench noted low BLA filings, heard contested accounts of outreach, refused to extend the current filing deadline but posted the matter for further hearing on September 8. A major opposition party welcomed the order.
