Dharavi Redevelopment Project Ends Eligibility Survey by Aug 2025 with Housing Benefits for Long-Term Residents
The Dharavi Redevelopment Project's eligibility survey will conclude door-to-door visits by August 12, 2025, allowing residents with valid documents to submit eligibility claims via a helpline thereafter. Residents settled before January 1, 2000, qualify for free 350 sq ft flats within Dharavi, while those settled between 2000 and 2011 may receive 300 sq ft units outside Dharavi under a government housing scheme. Over 87,000 tenements have completed surveys, with around 1.2 lakh tenements mapped across multiple locations. The project includes provisions for lessees and commercial units to retain tenancy rights in designated commercial spaces within redevelopment buildings. The state government aims to create an integrated township combining residential and commercial spaces, preserving Dharavi's economic ecosystem and infrastructure development, ensuring broad inclusion in this large-scale urban renewal initiative.
