<h1>GST collections hit record Rs 22.08 lakh crore in FY25, doubling since 2020-21 with 9.4% growth</h1> India's Goods and Services Tax collections reached a record Rs 22.08 lakh crore in fiscal year 2024-25, doubling from Rs 11.37 lakh crore in 2020-21. The collections showed 9.4% year-on-year growth, with average monthly collections rising to Rs 1.84 lakh crore. Registered taxpayers increased from 65 lakh in 2017 to over 1.51 crore currently. GST, launched in July 2017, consolidated 17 local taxes and 13 cesses into a simplified five-tier structure, strengthening the country's fiscal position and making indirect taxation more efficient and transparent.
