The Ministry of Corporate Affairs, along with SEBI, monitors and takes action against companies that disappear after raising public funds. A Central Coordination and Monitoring Committee has identified 238 such vanishing companies, with 151 traced and 87 still untraced as of March 31, 2012. Legal actions, including filing complaints and prosecutions under various sections of the Companies Act, are being pursued. The Committee continuously adjusts procedures based on stakeholder feedback.
