Andhra Pradesh Freezes Power Tariffs for 2025-26, Offers Subsidies and New Policies for Consumers and Businesses
Andhra Pradesh has announced no increase in retail power tariffs for the fiscal year 2025-26, fulfilling an election promise. The state government will cover a Rs 12,632.40 crore subsidy to maintain current rates, benefiting various consumer categories such as agricultural and Scheduled Caste/Tribe households. The Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission introduced Time of Day tariffs for commercial and industrial users above 10 kW to optimize power use. New policies include domestic tariffs for home construction, extended standby tariffs to all open-access users, and unchanged EV charging rates. A scheme allows domestic consumers to regularize additional loads at reduced costs.
