Government Sanctions 1.5 Crore Kisan Credit Cards, Boosting Farmer Credit by Rs. 1.35 Lakh Crore Under Special Drive.
The government has achieved a significant milestone by sanctioning 1.5 crore Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) with a credit limit of Rs. 1.35 lakh crore under a special drive. This initiative, part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat Package, aims to cover 2.5 crore farmers with a total credit boost of Rs. 2 lakh crore. The KCC scheme, introduced in 1998, provides concessional credit to farmers, including those in animal husbandry and fisheries. The government offers a 2% interest subvention and a 3% Prompt Repayment Incentive, reducing the effective interest rate to 4% per annum, supporting agricultural operations and enhancing rural economic growth.
