Indian Government Expands PMRPY: Full Employer Contribution for First 3 Years to Boost Job Creation and Social Security.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, led by the Prime Minister, has approved the expansion of the Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Protsahan Yojana (PMRPY). The Indian government will now cover the full employer contribution for the first three years for new employees across all sectors, including current beneficiaries. This initiative aims to provide a social safety net for informal sector workers and boost job creation. Since its inception in August 2016, the scheme has added approximately 3.1 million beneficiaries to formal employment, with over Rs. 500 crore spent. PMRPY incentivizes employers to expand their workforce, offering social security benefits to new employees.
