India Enforces Compliance on All Imported Goods; No Restriction Plan for Standards-Compliant Imports from China.
All goods imported into India, including those from China, must comply with domestic laws, technical standards, and safety norms. Currently, there is no plan to restrict imports that meet these criteria. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) enforces standards and certification for both domestic and imported products to prevent substandard goods. There are 109 products under the Compulsory Product Certification Scheme and 30 electronic and IT goods under the Compulsory Registration Scheme. To date, 204 licenses have been issued to Chinese manufacturers for various products, and 4,636 registrations have been granted for electronic and IT goods. India applies these regulations equally to all WTO members.
