CBDT Signs 5 Unilateral and 1 Bilateral APA with UK, Covering Healthcare, IT, and Gaming Sectors.
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) signed five Unilateral Advance Pricing Agreements (APAs) with Indian taxpayers and one Bilateral APA involving the United Kingdom in June 2017. The APA scheme aims to provide tax certainty by predetermining transfer pricing methods and arm's length prices for up to five future years, with an option to apply the agreement retroactively for four years. The recent agreements cover the healthcare, IT, and gaming/animation sectors. To date, 162 APAs have been signed, comprising 150 unilateral and 12 bilateral agreements, reflecting the government's commitment to a non-adversarial tax regime.
