GST Council Updates Rates: Tender Coconut Water, Fruit Drinks, Electrical Machines, Cereals, and Puja Samagri Reclassified.
The GST Council has made amendments to the GST rate schedule for goods following discussions on May 18, 2017. Changes include clarifying that tender coconut water not in unit containers or without a registered brand name falls under the Nil rate. Fruit pulp or fruit juice-based drinks are now classified under tariff item 2202 90 20. The entry for electrical machines and apparatus under the 28% rate is omitted, as they are already covered under the 18% rate. Additional entries for cereals and flour in unit containers with brand names and puja samagri are noted, with the latter in the Nil category pending final formulation.
