2011-2012 Budget: New Tariff Changes on Exports, Duty Exemptions for Artworks, Copper, and Mobile Components Effective March 1.
The 2011-2012 Budget introduced several customs tariff notifications effective from March 1, 2011, adjusting export duties and exemptions. Key changes include the effective export duty rate on items excluding iron ores and de-oiled rice bran cake, exemptions for imported artworks for public exhibitions, and software not requiring a retail price declaration. Copper concentrates are exempt from duties equivalent to gold and silver values. Mobile handset components and accessories receive duty exemptions, and various amendments to previous notifications are made, including those related to Special Economic Zones and water supply projects. An interest rate of 18% is fixed, and import restrictions on certain materials are imposed. Legislative changes will be effective upon the enactment of the Finance Bill, 2011.
