of <h1>CBDT Directs Quick Refunds Under Rs. 50,000 to Boost Taxpayer Satisfaction; Details in Memo F. No. 312/109/2015-OT.</h1> The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) instructed the Central Processing Center in Bengaluru and field officers to expedite refunds under Rs. 50,000 to enhance taxpayer satisfaction. Between December 1, 2015, and January 10, 2016, 18,28,627 refunds totaling Rs. 1,793 crore were issued for assessment years 2013-14 to 2015-16. To further streamline the process, CBDT directed that refunds up to Rs. 5,000, and cases with outstanding arrears up to Rs. 5,000, be issued without adjusting for arrears. These directives are detailed in Office Memorandum F. No. 312/109/2015-OT, dated January 14, 2016.
