ED and DGFT Sign MoU to Share eBRC Data, Boosting Transparency and Efficiency in India's Export Processes.
The Enforcement Directorate and the Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to share foreign exchange realization data, known as eBRC data. This initiative, presided over by the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, aims to enhance transparency, reduce human interaction, and improve business efficiency in India. The eBRC project, launched in 2012, enables banks to securely upload export-related foreign exchange data to the DGFT server, streamlining processes for exporters and reducing transaction costs. Several state governments have also signed MOUs with DGFT to use eBRC data for VAT refunds, and discussions are underway with the RBI to expand data coverage.
