These investigations are guided by the Customs Tariff Act, 1975. DGAD recommends duties to the Department of Revenue, which may impose them. From 2009 to 2013, DGAD initiated 64 investigations on imports from countries like China, the EU, and the USA, mainly involving chemicals, pharmaceuticals, steel products, and consumer goods. During this period, 39 duties were enforced, 7 investigations terminated, 1 closed, 3 awaited duty imposition, and 14 were under investigation.
