Software Developer Seeks Clarity on STPI Scheme Tax Exemptions and Extensions Post-2010 for Business Benefits A proprietor in India engaged in software development sought clarification on tax exemptions under the STPI registration, specifically regarding income and service tax exemptions, the availability of the STPI scheme post-2010, and its time limits. A respondent informed that the STPI scheme had been extended for an additional year, offering benefits such as service tax exemption, CST reimbursement, and procurement advantages without VAT/Excise/Customs Duty. To avail of these benefits, registration with the Development Commissioner of the Jurisdictional STPI, Excise Department, VAT Department, and Income Tax Department is necessary. (AI Summary)
