Client Faces Service Addition Denial Due to Unfiled Tax Returns; Experts Advise on Legal Recourse and Penalty Avoidance A client has not filed service tax returns for one category from September 2005 to September 2010 but has paid all due taxes with interest up to March 31, 2010. The client began a new business activity in July 2010, but the department is denying the addition of new services without filing past returns. A Chartered Accountant advises that taxes can be paid with interest without registration, but changes should be notified within 30 days to avoid penalties. Another contributor suggests there is no legal basis to deny adding new services and recommends lodging a grievance if the issue persists. (AI Summary)
