Co-operative Society Must Reapply for PAN Due to Incorrect Status Listing as AOP Trust Instead of AOP A co-operative society, registered since 1975, applied for a Permanent Account Number (PAN) in 1994, listing its status as an Association of Persons (AOP) Trust. However, their auditor recently pointed out that their correct status is simply AOP, not AOP Trust. The society is advised to surrender the existing PAN and apply for a new one reflecting the correct status, as changes cannot be made through a PAN correction form. It is suggested to submit the application through UTI or NSDL facilitators for reissuance. (AI Summary)
