THRESHOLD LIMIT FOR CONSULTANCY SERVICES

Kishor Pohani

Dear Sir,

I am working as a Consultant in an Engineering Consultancy firm on per day remunerations basis. Though TDS is deducted by the firm from remunerations paid to me for my services. Please let me know, if am supposed to pay / register for GST and what is the threshold limit for payment/Registering for GST I. e. up to how income per year one is exempted to register/pay GST as a Consultant , specifically to my case. Thanks and Regards.

Consultant Learns GST Registration Required if Annual Income Exceeds 20 Lakhs; Must Register Within 30 Days An individual working as a consultant in an engineering consultancy firm inquired about the threshold limit for Goods and Services Tax (GST) registration and payment. The consultant receives daily remuneration, with Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) already applied. A response clarified that the threshold exemption limit for GST registration is 20 lakhs per year. Once this limit is exceeded, the consultant must apply for GST registration within 30 days. If the annual income is below this threshold, GST registration is not required. The consultant expressed gratitude for the clarification. (AI Summary)
