GST ON PISSI BY CHAKKI OWNER

Deepak Garg

SIR, ONE OF MY CLIENT IS A CHAKKI OWNER HAVING GST NO. PLEASE CLARIFY THAT WHETHER GST IS PAYABLE ON PISSI CHARGES. IF YES THEN THE RATE OF TAX.

GST on grinding services: taxable under 'not elsewhere specified' when grain conversion yields a new product, check exemptions. Charges for converting grain into flour (pissi/grinding) are likely taxable because the processing produces a new product and therefore does not qualify for the agricultural-produce exemption; if not listed among exempted services, the service falls under the residual category not elsewhere specified and attracts GST. What is pissi charge?

KASTURI SETHI on Aug 24, 2017

He wants to say grinding charges. By way of pisai , wheat grain is converted into flour (Atta). It may be under 'Not else where specified'. Rate of GST @18%. This is my guess. We have to check all exempted services. If not found in the list of exempted Services, then it is confirmed under the category of 'NES'. Earlier known as 'Other than negative list' There is no chance of the benefit of Agricultural Produce as the process leads to a new product that is flour.
