Business Urged to Register for Central Excise Now, Despite Upcoming GST Changes, for Immediate Compliance Benefits. A business is planning to start a new unit in March 2017 and seeks advice on whether to register for Central Excise now or wait for the implementation of GST to take advantage of CENVAT credit for new machinery. The concern also involves the usability of IGST and CGST across various units with a single GST number per state. Respondents advise applying for Central Excise registration immediately, as the GST implementation date is uncertain, and compliance with the current tax regime should not be delayed. All responses align with the initial recommendation to register without waiting for GST. (AI Summary)
