VGM weight issues

Kishan Barai

We are in touch with mundra port authorities but they are unable to explain the practical steps of execution for factory stuffed export cargo, what is max weight allowed in 20FT and 40FT Dry cargo container ?? and how VGM has to be executed as container are sealed in factory, we do not find and certified agency in Rajkot doing that, our client are being told that port authorities will carry out and will provide VGM Certificate. As per VGM IMO rules separate weight of goods and container has to be done, how it is possible to break seal at port now ? we are getting certification but would love to understand the practical process.

please enlighten in detail

Thank You

Understanding VGM Certification for Factory-Stuffed Export Cargo: Weight Limits and Certification Process for 20FT and 40FT Containers A query was raised regarding the execution of Verified Gross Mass (VGM) for factory-stuffed export cargo at Mundra Port. The issue involves understanding the maximum weight allowed for 20FT and 40FT dry cargo containers and the process of obtaining VGM certification, especially when containers are sealed at the factory. There is difficulty in finding a certified agency in Rajkot for this purpose. The port authorities reportedly will provide the VGM certificate. A response suggested consulting a Customs House Agent (CHA) or shipping line for guidance on VGM procedures. (AI Summary)
