Excise Duty Calculation Clarified: Offset with CENVAT Input Credit Under Central Excise Rules, 2000. Duty Rate at 12.36%. A participant inquired about calculating excise duty and whether it can be offset with CENVAT input credit. The response explained that excise duty is calculated based on the Central Excise (Determination of Value) Rules, 2000. The duty rate is 12.36%, and the payable amount is determined by subtracting the CENVAT credit from the value calculated under these rules. The remaining balance is the excise duty to be paid.
