LTUs will handle excise duty, corporate tax, income tax, and service tax for entities with a single PAN. The Chief Commissioner will oversee LTU operations, including administration, coordination between tax wings, revenue monitoring, and taxpayer assistance. Commissioners and officers will be posted to LTUs with all-India jurisdiction, working in coordination with existing tax officers. Notifications detailing jurisdiction and procedures were issued on September 30, 2006.
