of <h1>Customs invites nominations for government-approved assayers/valuers to value precious items; fee caps, availability, documentation, deadline 31.03.2024</h1> A customs authority invites nominations of government-approved assayers/valuers to value gold, silver, jewellery, precious/synthetic stones and other valuable articles for import/export or seized/confiscated goods, requiring continuous availability, mandatory presence during extraction, issuance of certificates, and testimony before authorities. Fees are capped on tiered percentage rates of assayed value with GST and a minimum charge of Rs.1,000; fees are payable by the stakeholder and the Department is not liable for nonpayment. Applicants must submit prescribed forms, credentials and undertakings, undergo vetting and interview, accept a non-transferable appointment (generally five years), and face penalties for misinformation; applications close 31.03.2024.
