<h1>Monetary limits for tax appeals revised: Rs. 2 Crore for Supreme Court, Rs. 1 Crore for High Courts, Rs. 50 Lakh for CESTAT.</h1> The Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs has revised the monetary limits for filing appeals by the Department to reduce government litigation. Appeals will not be filed if the amount involved is below Rs. 2 Crore for the Supreme Court, Rs. 1 Crore for High Courts, and Rs. 50 Lakh for CESTAT. Exceptions include cases challenging the constitutional validity of laws, illegal notifications, and recurring legal issues. The process for withdrawing pending cases will continue as per existing practices.
