Customs Increases Drawback Rates Retroactively from April 1, 2007; Automatic EDI Credits for Most Exporters.
The Customs authority announced an increase in drawback rates effective retroactively from April 1, 2007, as per Ministry of Finance notification No. 68/2007-Cus(NT). Exporters are exempt from filing supplementary claims for EDI shipping bills for exports made between April 1, 2007, and July 17, 2007. The differential drawback amounts will be automatically credited via the EDI system, except for 37 specific drawback heads which require manual claims. Manual shipping bills also necessitate supplementary claims. Any issues should be reported to the Commissioner of Customs (Export) at Jawaharlal Nehru Custom House.
