Revised Customs Duty Payment Procedure Using DEPB and Reward Scheme Scrips under EPCG Scheme Effective January 2009.
The circular outlines the revised procedure for paying customs duties using DEPB scrips and reward scheme scrips for imports under the EPCG Scheme, effective from January 1, 2009. It details the process within the Indian Customs EDI System (ICES), highlighting changes to facilitate duty payment. After assessment, a TR-6 challan is generated for the importer, who can pay through a bank or e-payment via ICEGATE. Importers can request duty debits on EPCG items from DEPB scrips within a five-day interest-free period. The system updates the duty status, allowing goods registration before customs examination. Other procedures remain unchanged.
