Indian Customs EDI System Aligns State Codes with GST Census Codes Starting June 14, 2017.
The circular from the Ministry of Finance's Department of Revenue informs exporters, importers, and related agents about the alignment of state codes in the Indian Customs EDI System (ICES) with those used for Goods and Services Tax (GST) purposes, effective from June 14, 2017. This change is in preparation for the GST implementation starting July 1, 2017. Previously, state codes followed the Reserve Bank of India's list, but they will now align with Census Codes used for GST. Stakeholders are advised to use the new codes to prevent rejections at the ICEGATE system, and any issues should be reported to the Office of the Commissioner of Customs.
