SEBI Launches Mini Derivative Contracts for Sensex, Nifty with Rs. 1 Lakh Minimum, Enhancing Market Accessibility.
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has introduced mini derivative contracts on the Sensex and Nifty indices, following the Derivatives Market Review Committee's recommendations. These contracts will have a minimum size of Rs. 1 lakh at launch. Existing risk containment measures for equity index derivatives will apply to these mini contracts, as outlined in previous SEBI circulars. This initiative, under the authority of the SEBI Act, 1992, aims to enhance the securities market. The circular is effective immediately and can be accessed on SEBI's website under the 'Derivatives - Circulars' section.
