Refund Process for DEPB Aligns with Notification 102/2007: Re-credit 4% CVD to Scrip, Not Cash.
The circular outlines the procedure for refund or re-credit of the Duty Entitlement Pass Book (DEPB) in line with Notification No. 102/2007 Customs dated 14.09.2008. It specifies that when the 4% Countervailing Duty (CVD) is paid through DEPB, VKGUY, FPS, or FMS Scrip, the refund should be re-credited to the respective scrip rather than refunded in cash. The Refund Cell at the Custom House in Cochin is responsible for scrutinizing and processing these refund applications, forwarding approved claims to Group VII for re-crediting. Any issues with the implementation should be reported to the commissioner.
