Duty-Free Import Guidelines for Service Providers: Rules on Eligible Goods, Including Cars and Beverages, Under DGFT Circular.
The circular from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade outlines the duty-free import entitlement for service providers based on their average foreign exchange earnings over the preceding three licensing years. Eligible imports include spares, office equipment, furniture, professional equipment, and consumables, but exclude agriculture and dairy products. After consultation with the Department of Revenue, it was clarified that milk, dairy, vegetable, horticulture, and agriculture products are not permitted under this entitlement. However, beverages, spirits, vinegar, and seafood are allowed. Cars can be imported duty-free only by hotels, tour operators, and tourist transport operators.
